Centre for Empowerment with Language Skills

Professional/Occupational English
The birthplace of the English language, Britain has the greatest contribution to English Language Teaching(ELT) in the world. Besides its historical role in spreading English globally during the British Empire, Britain has pioneered institutes for English teaching to foreigners and has introduced methodologies and teacher training programmes, among others. Britain, especially London, is (or, one of) the most central place attracting learners worldwide to learn English. In recent years, a significant number of people migrated to the UK, and many of them are facing difficulties to work for their lack of competence in English.
Generali
As opposed to English for General Purpose (EGP), we have developed over twenty (and counting) courses of English for Special Purpose(ESP).
The first vacation classes on modern languages were offered in Europe in 1897 in Marburg. Later, Ripperman led a vacation English course for international students at the University of London in 1903.
WE ARE HERE TO HELP!
Oxons College is set to prepare people with English language skills for people of different walks, occupations and professions.
We have thoroughly researched the scholarly works in the field: teaching-learning methodologies, the learner’s native language and its impact in learning English, especially phonetically and phonologically, among others.
Every course has been developed, designed and customised by analysing the needs of individual vocations and/or professions. Individual learners’ needs have been focussed on.
The lessons are not limited to the 4 walls of the classrooms. Every course is coordinated with the relevant setting and expertise. For instance, English for Social Care Occupation learners will have part of their learning experiences in the care home or domiciliary setting. Likewise, in a football club or playground for the learners of English for Sports Personnel. We’ve achieved this thanks to our experience and knowledge of the sector as well as extensive and intensive research of the works by experts in the field.

Language is one of the most powerful tools that smoothes the path to your dream goals.

Values and Philosophy
In this hard time of economic struggles, many people want to work to make a (better) living. Often, they have field-oriented skills but not the competence in the English language to support the skills. These people sometimes resort to ‘benefits’. These people diminish their potential and become a liability to the country’s economy. Our vision is to empower people to utilise their potential to the fullest.
Equal and fair Treatment
Effective learning and work occur in classrooms when individuals with protected characteristics, as outlined in the Equality Act, are respected. We maintain tolerance and mutual respect for people of different faiths and views, abilities.
Class teachers, lecturers, and trainers will be advancing British values by upholding high standards of behaviour, such as tolerance and respect for one another’s faiths and beliefs, and by urging students to respect the protected qualities.
